Just 31 Days Till Thanksgiving!

Here we are at the end of October already. Where does the time go?  Wasn't it just Labor Day?  There must be some truth to the statement, "time goes fast when you're having fun".

Summer is Winding Down

As summer begins to wind down, we are gearing up for a fun fall season here at Crystal Waters Vacations.  Kids are getting ready to go back to school. Moms are shopping for school clothes and supplies.  There's even been sightings of Halloween and fall decor in the stores. (Can you believe it?  Where did the summer go?)

We are actually heading into my personal favorite time of the year!  Two words. LESS TRAFFIC.  Summer at the beach is notoriously associated with traffic, especially during this road construction. But we will begin to see less cars on the road over the next couple weeks.   (Hopefully by next summer the construction will be complete.) 

The evenings will start to cool down, which makes it the perfect time to enjoy those walks on the beach.  We'll also see less crowded beaches! And shorter wait times at the restaurants.  

Best of all, the rates for vacation rentals will begin to drop! So if you haven't already considered booking a fall trip to Destin, this is the time to plan it!  We can help!

Safely Traveling With Your Pup

Here are a few tips to make the trip from home to vacation house safer and easier for everyone:

• Keep Everyone Secure.  Yes, it's sweet to hold Fido on your lap, but it can be dangerous - for you and the dog.  Dogs should be restrained in the back seat of a car or in a carrier, whether in a car or a RV.  Dogs allowed to stick their heads out the car window risk injury from debris or illness from air forced into their lungs. 
• Tag, Chip and Leash.  Do not ever open the car door without first securing your pet's leash - even when it's inside a crate.  One quick leap, and your pet could disappear into a parking lot or rest area hundreds of miles away from home. Also make certain your pet's tag and microchip have your cell number or other vacation contact information. 
• A Few of My Favorite Things.  Just like us, our pets have comfort items.  Don't forget your dog's favorite food, dishes, blankets, bed and toys. 
• Plan a Pet-friendly Itinerary.   Map out good places to stop for walks along the way and locate pet friendly hotels if your trip requires an overnight stop.  At your vacation home, look for parks that allow dogs.  **Don't assume the beach is pet friendly, be sure to check this out. Here in the Destin area there are parks, restaurants, and even pubs that welcome both you and your dog.

Easter Weekend Events in Destin

To Christians, Easter is the most special day of the year, the day Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead. 

Easter also also is celebrated with the Easter Bunny, colored eggs, jelly beans, and lot's of chocolate. He (or she, as we are never quite sure about this) comes on Saturday night leading to Easter Sunday morning. He brings lots of chocolates and other candies. That's one meaning to Easter, especially if you are a kid or a "Chocolaholic".

In the Destin area, Easter also means family time, possibly enjoying brunch together or visiting the Easter bunny!  Here are a few local events this weekend for your family to consider:

Easter Explosion - Bounce on over to the Village of Baytowne Wharf on Saturday April 20th for a day filled with free family friendly entertainment! Lawn games, face-painting, inflatables and more! And don't forget to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny! 12-3 PM

LuLu's Easter Egg Hunt - Come meet the Easter Bunny this Sunday at 2 pm.  Will be divided by ages for safe hunting for all. 

Brunch with the Easter Bunny - Brunch from 10-2 pm and visit with the Easter bunny from 2:30-4 at HarborWalk Village this Sunday. For reservations please call (850) 424-0622.
